The Festival itself was part of a joint initiative with Rotary Club of Trent Bridge to combine a day of non-competitive football fun with a fund raising challenge to help provide a borehole with regular clean and safe drinking water to a primary school near Namunyumya.
Presently there is no access to clean water leading to dysentery, cholera and other disorders. The primary school is the focal point of village life and clean water freely accessed by the community changes village life for the better.
The challenge was to raise £2,500 which will be matched by a grant from Rotary and will cover the full cost of the work.
Bob Rice observed “ it was great to see the lads enjoy themselves and be so appreciative of the efforts of both sponsors and particularly coaching staff in helping them develop their footballing skills. The Festival was a great success and Frank Webbs’ were absolutely delighted to be involved”
Watch out for further reports as the season progresses!
